New & Improved Pea & Bean Booster

Friday 18th February 2011

Just one easy application of Mr Fothergill's Pea and Bean Booster to seed at sowing time is all that is needed to keep the plants fed throughout the whole season.  Available exclusively from the Suffolk seedsman, Pea and Bean Booster has a new, improved formula which is now suitable for all home-grown peas and beans. The Rhizobium inoculants in the preparation are already improving yields for commercial growers and its formula is approved by Organic Farmers and Growers, one of the UK's leading organic certification bodies.

Mr Fothergill's Pea and Bean Booster is a blend of nitrogen-supplying bacteria dried to dormancy and mixed with an inert clay carrier.  Once reactivated by contact with moisture, the bacteria boost the ability of the roots of legumes to make or ‘fix' nitrogen from air present in the soil, so the plants can feed themselves and require no other natural or chemical fertiliser.  This in turn leads to improved yields of peas, runner, dwarf and broad beans from the same space.  Because the nitrogen is supplied only to the roots, gardeners know they are not also feeding weeds when they use Pea and Bean Booster and, with reduced weed competition, yields may be further improved.

Pea and Bean Booster is priced at £2.89 per sachet, with each sachet containing enough ‘friendly bacteria' to treat up to four packets of Mr Fothergill's peas and beans.  Its new formula allows it to be used through a longer period of time once opened, providing it is re-closed and stored in a cool, dry environment.  It is not harmful to wildlife, pets or humans.
