How the Pea and Bean booster works
Unlike other plants, legumes can fix nitrogen from the air. This gives them the unique ability to feed themselves, however, to do this they need appropriate bacteria to be present in the soil. These are essential in the formation of nitrogen fixing nodules on the root system. This is where Mr. Fothergill's Pea and Bean Booster helps. It contains just the right bacteria to make this process work. The benefits are most noticeable where soil is more sterile such as poor sandy soils or bagged composts (i.e. growing bags).
The bacteria is injected into each sachet onto a powdered organic carrier. It can be stored for up to two years. One sachet will treat up to four packets of peas or beans.
The benefits for the amateur gardener include:
• One easy application at the sowing stage
• Feeds plants for the entire season
• An entirely natural process
• No leaching of nitrates into the ground water
• Nitrogen is only supplied to the crop and not weeds
• No need for feed or any other chemical fertilizers
